Casillas said: 'We are looking to go one step further, to keep strengthening the team because we have more experience. We hope to win the Liga, but first the Super Cup and the (Spanish) Cup, and we hope to reach the Champions League final, because we've been trying for a long time.
'People's preferences or opinions are always different. For me it's very clear. I think Madrid has got stronger and we've taken a giant leap to compete with Barça. We've put ourselves on an equal footing. We won the Liga last year and we were rightful winners. I respect other people's opinions, but I think this team and its players are the best out there.
'This team deserves a European Cup, but many other teams will think the same. We've put together a new and more experienced team with players like Özil, Khedira, Karim... but it shouldn't be an obsession and we have to focus more on the Super Cup and the Liga, which start first.'
