Uefa penalise Napoli

SSC Napoli have been punished for improper conduct by fans, insufficient stadium organisation and non-respect of UEFA directives related to stadium security at their UEFA Europa League Group F match against Swedish opponents AIK on 20 September.

The Control and Disciplinary Body instructed Napoli not to sell tickets for sectors 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 23 and 24, as well as the sector for disabled spectators at the north end of the main stand (west stand) of the Stadio San Paolo, for their next UEFA Europa League game against FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk on 8 November.

The Italian side will have to provide a report from an independent construction company which confirms, with photographic evidence, that the necessary repair work has been carried out and that the aforementioned stands meet all the relevant spectator safety standards. If such a report is presented, the ban on ticket sales could be suspended for a probationary period of five years.

The Control and Disciplinary Body has ordered Napoli to play one UEFA competition game behind closed doors, subject to a probationary period of five years. The Italian club have also been fined €150,000.

The Italian have three days from the dispatch of the reasoned decision to appeal against the decision.
