Rapid appeal against UEFA punishment


SK Rapid Wien have appealed against the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body's decision following incidents in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League play-off against PAOK FC on 23 August.
 
The Austrian club were fined €75,000 and directed to play their next UEFA competition home game behind closed doors. The sanction did not apply to the UEFA Europa League play-off second leg between Rapid and PAOK in Vienna on 30 August. Rapid won 3-0 to advance to the UEFA Europa League group stage on a 4-2 aggregate scoreline.
 
Rapid were also disqualified from one (current or future) UEFA competition for which it would normally qualify within the next five years. This ban is suspended for a probationary period of three years.
 
UEFA Appeals Body will meet on Friday 14 September 2012 to look into the appeal SK Rapid Wien.
