Raheem Sterling gets England call-up
Raheem Sterling has been called into the England squad for Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against Ukraine.
The Liverpool's 17-year-old winger joined the league of new players that may feature against UEFA EURO 2012 co-host at the Wembley Stadium.
Manager Roy Hodgson invited Tottenham Hotspur midfielders Jake Livermore, 22 and Southampton's Adam Lallana, 24, to the Three Lions camp.
Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has been ruled out of the game due to illness.
Chelsea defenders John Terry and Ashley Cole are both unavailable for the Group H tie because of ankle injuries.
Hodgson said: 'It was a good opportunity to invite some young players to come in and be part of the atmosphere.'
Captain Steven Gerrard has hailed the call-up of his Liverpool team-mate Sterling.
'I think he deserves this call-up. The impact he's made has been sensational. He's been one of our shining lights. The important thing is he keeps his feet on the ground. I think it won't be long before he's in the set-up for real.'
The Jamaica-born forward has been offered the chance to play for the country of his birth, but has represented England at Under-19, Under-17 and Under-16 level. Sept. 10, 2012.
