Blatter: The quality of women’s football has increased

FIFA president Joseph Sepp Blatter believes FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is a 'great moment' in women's football development.

The soccer chief who addressed the press on the eve of Azerbaijan 2012 revealed that the quality of women’s football has increased recently.

He said: 'It’s a great moment in FIFA’s development of women’s football for us to have the possibility to organise this women’s competition in a country where the culture is different to every other country where we have organised women’s football so far.

'It has been a tremendous year for women’s football and this is the last women’s competition of the year. In the past two months we have had the Olympic football tournament – 600,000 tickets were sold for the women’s football, this has never been done. Then we had the U-20 Women’s World Cup in Japan and this was also a great success. I have to say the quality of women’s football has increased.'
