Mauri: Ancelotti and I discuss football everyday

Paris Saint-Germain fitness coach and Performance Supervisor, Giovanni Mauri says he enjoys working with manager Carlo Ancelotti.
　
He said: 'We discuss football every day. We are passionate about it. On Wednesday evening we watched Chelsea versus Juventus together. We discussed the fitness, the skill, the tactics. It's normal for us to discuss football together, even more so when it comes to Paris Saint-Germain.'
　
Mauri believes it possible for a whole squad to maintain a high level of performance throughout an entire season.
　
'We are used to preparing players for these periods of the season. We will work from our experience. The most important thing is to recover well. Good recovery also includes the three elements we spoke about earlier: mentality, biochemistry and physicality. Working on performance is an individual thing and the hardest aspect of all is maintaining a high level of performance across the entire squad. There are a lot of players in the squad and some have played very little up to now. It's very difficult keeping all the players up to good levels. But it is possible to maintain a high level of performance throughout an entire season.'

Uefa begins investigation into Lazio fans' behaviour

Uefa has begun disciplinary proceedings against SS Lazio for 'improper conduct' by the club's supporters during Thursday's Europa League game against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
　
The Control and Disciplinary Body will meet on 18 October to discuss the case.

Ferguson: Rooney will not play at Anfield

Sir Alex Ferguson has announced that he will present the same squad that played against Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League when they face Liverpool at Anfield.
　
Speaking at his weekly press conference at Carrington, the manager revealed that Wayne Rooney will not travel with the squad.
　
He said: 'Everyone who was involved on Wednesday is available. I know there were reports in the paper about Rooney being possible, but that is not the case. He's not far away, I think he may be fine for next week.
　
'He's doing a lot of great training and has been working hard. It's just a matter of getting him into the full football training side of things, which he has done part of.
　
'Ashley Young has got a bruised cartilage - I think it's going to take two or three weeks more for him. We're just taking our time with that one. You can easily play with it and train but we're not going down that road, we want to make sure he's okay.
　
'We get a lot of experiences these days of injuries reoccurring when they come back too quickly and we don't want that with the players - we want to give them a full recovery. He should be okay with two or three weeks’ time.'
